The Geography of Thought
Just like people, no two brains are identically alike. But all brains have the same architecture and one of the most distinctive features of this amazing organ is its surface appearance. The deep fissures, or “sulci,” and bumps, or “gyri,” divide up the four lobes of the cerebral cortex.
Each lobe, like each hemisphere, has a right and left side and each lobe has a different function.
Occipital Lobe: Makes it possible for us to see, by synthesizing images from the eyes with information and images stored in memory, like word recognition.
